Kollage is Canada’s premier hard bop band. The group’s formation came about in the year 1999 through the desire of founding members drummer Archie Alleyne and saxophonist Doug Richardson’s quest to preserve the incredibility rich music of the “hard bop” era and celebrate its importance to the development of modern jazz composition.

With an emphasis on spontaneity and energy, “hard bop” was instrumental in revitalizing the fundamental innovations of “bebop”.

By incorporating elements of gospel and rhythm ‘n’ blues the music became more accessible to the general public.

Kollage has continued this tradition playing this timeless music and over the years with an alumni that includes some of Canada’s finest jazz musicians.
